The Israel Defense Forces continued its intense airstrike and ground campaigns in Gaza -- particularly in the north of the strip -- and in Lebanon, with Israeli attacks on targets nationwide including in the capital Beirut. The strikes form the backdrop for a fresh diplomatic push by the White House ahead of President-elect Donald Trump's return to the Oval Office in January.

Tensions also remain high between Israel and Iran after the former launched what it called "precise strikes on military targets" in several locations in Iran following Tehran's Oct. 1 missile barrage.

Israel targeted an "army center in Al-Amiriya on the Al-Qalila-Tyre road," the LAF wrote on X. "The center also sustained severe damage," it added.

The IDF told ABC News the incident is under review, saying in a statement: "The IDF expresses regret over the incident and emphasizes that its operations are directed solely against the Hezbollah terrorist organization, not the Lebanese Armed Forces."

Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said the strike was a "bloody message rejecting all efforts to reach a cease-fire," referring to the Lebanese army's traditional position as part of peace efforts.

Netanyahu's office said the rabbi was killed, describing his death as "a criminal anti-Semitic terrorist incident." Israel, the office added, "will act by all means and bring justice to the criminals responsible for his death."

Israeli President Isaac Herzog expressed "sorrow and outrage" over the killing.

The UAE's Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that Kogan was reported missing. "The relevant authorities in the UAE have initiated the search operations and investigations immediately following the receipt of the report," it said.

The ministry did not note Kogan's Israeli citizenship, describing him as a "missing Moldovan citizen."

Three people have been arrested in the UAE, according to the country's Interior Ministry.

North Gaza hospital director injured in bombing

The director of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza was injured in an Israeli bombing of the hospital Saturday night, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health.

Earlier in the evening, Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya reported that a drone had bombed a fuel tank of the hospital, which is located in Beit Lahia.

Staff at the hospital were also injured in an Israeli bombing in the overnight hours into Saturday, leaving a dozen wounded.

The hospital has been subject to continued attacks in the seven weeks since the Israel Defense Forces began its North Gaza operation. Last month, the IDF raided the hospital, arresting nearly all male staff and forcing patients and civilians to leave.

The IDF has not commented on attacks on Kamal Adwan Hospital in recent days.
