President Donald Trump is lashing out at Russian official Dmitry Medvedev, who claimed countries would be lining up to supply Iran with nuclear weapons following the American strike.

Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's security council, posted on X Sunday night that "a number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads."

Trump took to his own social media page to call out Medvedev's claims, arguing the word "nuclear" shouldn't be used so casually.

"Did I hear Former President Medvedev, from Russia, casually throwing around the 'N word' (Nuclear!), and saying that he and other Countries would supply Nuclear Warheads to Iran? Did he really say that or, is it just a figment of my imagination? If he did say that, and, if confirmed, please let me know, IMMEDIATELY," Trump posted on Monday, though Medvedev did not say Russia was ready to provide nuclear weapons to Iran.

"The 'N word' should not be treated so casually," he added.

Iran has the possibility of retaliating within a "sweet spot" without provoking another round of attacks from the U.S., but overall has a "wide range of options," according to ABC News contributor Steve Hill, an honorary professor in the Department of War Studies at King's College London.

"If they go to the extreme and really start attacking American forces and killing American citizens as well as military forces, that almost forces a retaliation from the American side," Hill said. "Complete capitulation after some demonstrative attacks possibly against Israel, that seems more likely."

"But the reality is, there is probably a sweet spot in the middle where the Iranians do enough to justify to their own people that they have retaliated, but not enough to provoke another round of attacks from the Americans so that this remains a one-off," Hill added.

As oil prices rise after the United States launched a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, President Donald Trump is demanding that oil prices remain steady and calling on his Department of Energy to increase domestic drilling.

"EVERYONE, KEEP OIL PRICES DOWN. I'M WATCHING! YOU’RE PLAYING RIGHT INTO THE HANDS OF THE ENEMY. DON'T DO IT!" Trump said in a post on Monday.

"To The Department of Energy: DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!! And I mean NOW!!!" he wrote in another post.

Secretary of Energy Chris Wright responded to Trump on X: "We're on it!"

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told ABC News on Monday the U.S. military posture has not changed, suggesting the decision should be up to the Iranian people to "rise up against this brutal terrorist regime" if they do not engage in diplomacy moving forward.

In a separate Fox News interview, Leavitt said the president "believes the Iranian people can control their destiny."

This comes after President Donald Trump appeared to float the idea that there should be a change in leadership in Iran in a social media post on Sunday.

"It's not politically correct to use the term, 'Regime Change,' but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn't there be a Regime change???," Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Sunday night.
