Trump says damage to Iran's nuclear sites is 'far below ground level'

Posting on his social media platform, President Donald Trump is advising citizens of Tehran, a city with a population of 9.8 million people, to "immediately evacuate."

"Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life," Trump posted.

"Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON," he posted. "I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!"

The warning comes as Iran and Israel continue to launch a new wave of missiles at each other and as Trump has publicly urged Iran to get back to the negotiation table and sign a nuclear deal.

In another security alert, the State Department said the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv would be closed again on Tuesday.

"In compliance with Israel Home Front Command guidance, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem will be closed Tuesday, June 17. This includes the Consular Sections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv," the alert reads. "The U.S. Embassy is not in a position at this time to evacuate or directly assist Americans in departing Israel."

Additionally, a U.S. official said that the State Department's task force on Middle East evacuations held a meeting Monday where potential plans to facilitate the departures of Americans from Israel were discussed at length. However, there are no indications at this point that any action is imminent.

Sirens sounded in several areas across Israel a short time ago after the Israel Defense Forces said it identified another round of missiles launched by Iran.

Shortly after, the IDF gave the all clear.

The U.S. is moving an additional aircraft carrier to the Middle East, according to U.S. officials, among other U.S. military developments since the start of the conflict between Israel and Iran.

The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and three destroyers in its strike group are now headed to the Middle East from their current deployment to the Western Pacific, the officials said. The Nimitz is being directed to make its way to the Middle East "without delay," one of the officials said, where it will overlap with the USS Carl Vinson.

In a statement on social media, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that, over the weekend, he "directed the deployment of additional capabilities" to the Middle East. "Protecting U.S. forces is our top priority and these deployments are intended to enhance our defensive posture in the region," he said.

It's possible that additional U.S. Navy ships equipped with missile defense systems will be sent to the Eastern Mediterranean in the coming days and weeks, according to a U.S. official.

The U.S. also moved a large number of midair refueling aircraft to Europe this past weekend as a precautionary move to provide options should the U.S. have to undertake defensive measures, a U.S. official confirmed.
