Aerial attacks between Israel and Iran continued overnight into Monday, marking a fourth day of strikes following Israel's Friday attack. That surprise strike hit the heart of Iran's nuclear program, killing several nuclear scientists as well as high-ranking military leaders, according to Israeli officials.

The U.S. did not provide any military assistance or have any involvement in Israel's Friday strike, a U.S. official told ABC News. President Donald Trump told ABC News on Sunday, "It's possible we could get involved."

Israeli Air Force completing 'wave of strikes' in Iran, IDF says

Israeli Air Forces are "completing a wave of strikes against military and strategic assets, nuclear program sites and high-ranking figures," in Iran, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement Saturday evening local time.

"At this hour, Israeli Air Force pilots continue to conduct widespread strikes across various regions in Iran — an ongoing operation lasting nearly 40 hours and targeting over 150 objectives," IDF spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said.

Protective measures will remain in effect in Israel after the IDF conducted a situational assessment, Defrin said. Schools will be closed Sunday, he added.

Israel struck two of Iran’s nuclear facilities in attacks already -- the Natanz enrichment plant and the Isfahan conversion facility, Defrin said.

“The damage to Iran’s nuclear program, missile systems, and terror leadership constitutes a major blow to the existential threat Iran attempts to impose on Israel,” Defrin said.
