Trump says he's spoken to Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino amid resignation rumors

President Donald Trump was asked on Sunday if Dan Bongino was still his FBI deputy director amid the growing fallout over the Justice Department's decision not to disclose any more records from its investigations into deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Multiple sources confirmed to ABC News earlier this week that Bongino had recently suggested to allies he may resign following days of growing outrage over a memo that stated the FBI and DOJ planned to make no future public disclosures related to its review of Epstein's case.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Trump said Bongino was in "good shape."

"I did, I spoke to him today, Dan Bongino, very good guy. I've known him a long time," Trump said. "I've done his show many, many times, and he sounded terrific, actually. No, I think he's in good shape," the president added.

Trump admin appeals judge's restrictions on California immigration raids

President Donald Trump's administration has filed an appeal intending to reverse the temporary halt on certain immigrant apprehension tactics allegedly employed by the Department of Homeland Security.

The filing to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals comes after a federal judge on Friday temporarily barred the Trump administration from conducting broad, untargeted immigration stops and arrests in parts of California.

The temporary restraining order blocked DHS from making arrests of people based solely on factors like race, accent, the type of work they do and their presence at a particular location -- such as day laborer pick up sites and agricultural sites.

The ruling only applies to the seven counties covered by the Central District, which includes Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
