Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial updates: Combs' ex-assistant 'Mia' to continue testimony next week

"Mia" called them “hotel nights,” referring to when Sean Combs and Cassie Ventura allegedly spent nights at hotels, according to her testimony

“I would sometimes take them there, unpack, set up and I would have to just be on call essentially if he needed anything and clean up before housekeeping,” "Mia" told the court.

"Mia" packed “all of his lotions and potions, baby oil, Astroglide, condoms” and candles, she testified.

“There was a mixture of the cheap and the expensive ones. The cheap ones were the Glade white linen with the label off, and the expensive ones were Diptyque,” "Mia" told the court about the candles.

"Mia" testified about one such night at the London Hotel in New York, during which Combs allegedly asked her to bring something to his room.

“Cass answered the door wearing a bright blue wig,” "Mia" testified, telling the court that Ventura looked “like she was struggling, different than I had seen her before so much that I asked ‘Are you good?’ Essentially, like, 'are you ok?'”

"Mia" testified that Ventura responded “’No, no I’m OK, I’m good,’ and closed the door.”

"Mia" told the jury that it was “standard procedure” for her to clean up the hotel rooms in which Combs stayed. “He wanted to clean up enough stuff that a housekeeper couldn’t take and run to TMZ or expose anything about his personal private business,” she testified, describing the rooms looking like “a nightmare” after Combs left.

“They were just destroyed. Very messy,” "Mia" further testified about the state of the hotel rooms. “I saw a lot of candle wax everywhere that was impossible to get out. There would be lots of wet towels everywhere. I’ve seen broken glass, sometimes blood, oil all over the furniture.” She testified that Combs called the blood “period blood.” Ventura previously testified that Combs expected her to engage in "freak-offs" while she was on her period.

"Mia" told the court that Combs' staff referred to Combs' and Ventura’s recovery after the hotel nights as “man down,” because “they would basically stay in the room and sleep for a day or two or three.”

"Mia" testified about one alleged occasion when she said Ventura expressed reluctance about going to a hotel with Combs.

“Uck,” "Mia" told the court Ventura said about the prospect, adding that Ventura "was visually upset. More like nervous. Really nervous and she started getting stomach issues because of it.”

The prosecution witness testifying under the pseudonym "Mia" told the court about a time when, while vacationing in Turks and Caicos, Cassie Ventura came “running and screaming” into her hotel room.

“She was screaming for help and saying ‘You gotta help me. He’s gonna kill me,'” "Mia" told the court, referring to Combs, describing it as “the most terrified scream” before the two women started blockading the door with furniture and running out the back door to the beach.

“I just remember we were running so fast down the beach and I remember being shocked that we could still be attacked by mosquitoes while running,” "Mia" testified.

She testified about another time while attempting to escape an allegedly “irate” Combs on the beach when she and Ventura hopped onto stand-up paddleboards and paddled out to sea.

“He was running back and forth on the beach behind the house screaming at us,” "Mia" told the court. “We were able to get out very far. I just remember things getting smaller and smaller.”

At some point the weather turned unfavorable, "Mia" testified, prompting her to think that she and Ventura would have to make a choice: “Face mother nature or go back to face Puff.”

"Mia" also told the jury about a time she sat next to Combs and Ventura at the premiere of the Brad Pitt Movie “Killing Them Softly” at the Cannes Film Festival.

“Puff was talking to Cass with his teeth clenched but in an aggressive way. He was digging his nails into her arm,” "Mia" alleged to the court.

"Mia" told the court that she never called police to report Combs’ alleged violence because she came to believe “Puff’s authority was above the police.”

“It was also a time period years and years before social media or #MeToo or any other example where someone had stood up successfully to someone in power like him,” "Mia" testified.

"Mia" also told the court that she was taught to believe in confidentiality and loyalty to Combs.

“I was supposed to protect him because there were so many people trying to blackmail him,” she testified.

"Mia" testified that she and Cassie Ventura became “like sisters” and that she spent “as much time as I was allowed” to spend with her, allegedly at Sean Combs’ discretion.

“Sometimes it would be like, ‘Go help Cass.’ Sometimes it would be to accompany her to things, but a lot of times it was to keep tabs on her and to be able to get in touch with her through me, to check up on her,” "Mia" told the court.

"Mia" testified that “something really scary” would happen if she and Cassie did something together without Combs’ permission.

Asked to describe the relationship between Combs and Ventura, "Mia" testified, “It was a cycle of highs and lows. Unequal and equal. Toxic. I’d say abusive. Like, it was abusive towards her.”

"Mia" testified that she saw Combs get violent with Ventura at his houses, her apartments, hotels, at events and on vacation.

“I’ve seen him attack her. I’ve seen him throw her on the ground. I’ve seen him crack her head open. I’ve seen him chase her,” Mia told the court.

“Did you ever see her fight back?” prosecutor Madison Smyser asked.

“No, I’ve just seen her put her arms up, like, to get him to stop,” "Mia" testified.

"Mia" told the court about the time in Ventura’s Los Angeles apartment, to which stylist Deonte Nash previously testified, when Combs allegedly arrived “banging on the door, very angry” and “screaming at Cass, ‘Have you been drinking?’”

Echoing Nash’s testimony, "Mia" told the court that Combs threw Ventura to the ground. "Mia" further testified that Combs threw her off of his back when she tried to intervene.

“He threw me against the wall so quick and so easily. I realized we were in real danger,” Mia told the court.

"Mia" told the court that Combs allegedly “slammed” Ventura’s head into the corner of the bed.

“She started gushing blood and she ended up with a pretty thick scar on her forehead,” "Mia" testified, recalling how “his eyes turned black and there was, like, no getting through. I was trying to get him to stop and it was like he was looking through me. It was the first time I realized the danger we were actually in.”

"Mia" also echoed testimony from makeup artist Mylah Morales about a Grammy weekend party thrown by Prince.

In her testimony, "Mia" described defying an order from Combs “to stay with Cass” at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

“Cass and I debated like little kids whether we should sneak out of the house,” "Mia" testified, sharing that they decided to go out.

“We danced on this purple plexiglass covering the pool, hung out with our friends, Prince performed at a little table -- just having fun,” "Mia" testified.

Then Combs arrived, "Mia" told the court: “I saw his bucket hat come through the entrance and made eye contact with him.”

When asked how she reacted, "Mia" took a deep breath before telling the court that Ventura said, “Oh, crap."

“We ran through the house ,which was quite confusing,” "Mia" testified, saying that they tried to hide in the bushes but then “Puff caught Cass.”

"Mia" testified that Combs allegedly had Ventura on the ground and “started to attack her” before Prince’s security guards allegedly intervened.

The next day, "Mia" testified, she was told “that Puff was suspending me without pay and that I was in big trouble.” She testified that Bad Boy’s human resources person, Vashta Wilson, allegedly told her that “Puff said I was being insubordinate.”

Court then took a lunch break.

The first time "Mia" met Sean Combs he was in his underwear, she testified.

The witness appearing under a pseudonym testified that Combs' vice president of human resources, Vashta Wilson, introduced her and then left the room.

When she landed the job as Combs' personal assistant, Mia testified, “I was so excited and just so excited, so nervous and just really eager.” Her first day working for Combs she didn't sleep, "Mia" told the court.

"Mia" testified that she was sent to conduct an inventory at Combs’ home in Alpine, New Jersey. She told the court that once there, she was summoned to Combs' studio, where she remained until the next afternoon. She then accompanied Combs to his apartment, she testified.

“How often did you go without sleep?” prosecutor Madison Smyser asked.

“All the time,” "Mia" testified, adding that her longest stretch without sleep was five straight days: “There was always a million things going on.”

According to her testimony, "Mia" worked for Combs from 2009 to 2017. Before that, she worked as a personal assistant to Mike Myers; prior to that she worked for another party, she testified.

"Mia" told the court that she kept an apartment in New York City but stayed mainly in Combs’ homes.

“Were you allowed to lock your bedroom door?” Smyser asked.

“No,” "Mia" testified. “Puff said ‘This is my house. No locks, no doors.’’

Smyser asked, “Were you able to leave whenever you wanted?”

“I wasn’t allowed," "Mia" testified in response. "I’d have to ask permission.”

Though Combs had other assistants, some of whom have testified at trial, "Mia" told the court that for a time when she worked for Combs, she was his only assistant.

“How did you feel when you were the only personal assistant?” Smyser asked.

“I didn’t have time to feel, but insane,” "Mia" told the court.

According to her testimony, "Mia" was promoted in 2013 to development director for Combs’ Revolt Films, though she told the court she still had to do “all the insane assistant situation” tasks during that time.

The “assistant situation” included “anticipating his whims, needs and moods,” according to a list of responsibilities the jury was shown. The same document, which referred to Combs as "PD," said “Every single day is different. PD can ask you to do 17,000 things,” which included everything from “cracking his knuckles” to “doing his taxes” to standing next to him for 22 hours a day doing nothing.

According to the list, "Mia" was also advised to “stay in PD eyesight” while on duty, unless he advised otherwise.
