While Elon Musk is stepping away from the White House, a senior administration official says he will continue to serve as an unofficial adviser to the president and could potentially attend White House meetings in the future.

While officials at the White House insist Musk and Trump left on good terms, it's notable the president hasn't said a word about Musk's departure, especially after his outspoken comments about the president's agenda and policy.

Senior White House officials were frustrated by Musk's comments regarding what Trump calls his “big, beautiful bill,” which came a day before Musk announced he would be officially leaving the administration, sources familiar with the situation tell ABC News.

Multiple senior DOGE officials are in the process of leaving the Trump administration as Elon Musk officially steps away, sources told ABC News.

Among them is James Burnham, DOGE’s top attorney, and Steve Davis, a longtime Musk lieutenant at his private companies. Both are in the process of offboarding from their role as special government employees, a White House official confirmed to ABC News.

Katie Miller, a special government employee who had served as a senior adviser and spokesperson for DOGE, is also leaving the administration and will work with Musk, sources said.

Burnham was a key attorney working closely with Musk and DOGE on the team's legal strategy. Davis served as one of Musk’s most senior advisers at DOGE -- and was viewed as running day-to-day operations – and worked across multiple federal agencies during his tenure.

Sources told ABC News other special government employees who worked with DOGE are also planning to be offboarded.

Special government employees are limited to 130 days of service. Friday will be 130 days since Inauguration Day, but it's unclear how each SGE counts their days worked.

A reporter asked White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt about a NOTUS article that found the Health and Human Services "Make America Healthy Again" report cited nonexistent medical studies and misrepresented others.

"I understand there were some formatting issues with the MAHA report that are being addressed in the report will be updated," she responded adding that the administration had confidence in Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Leavitt could not provide more details about HHS's research or if AI was used in the report.

RFK JR., who has no formal medical training, has promoted unsubstantiated health information for years, particularly when it comes to vaccines.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump again urged Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to lower interest rates during a meeting at the White House on Thursday.

"The president did say that he believes the Fed chair is making a mistake by not lowering interest rates, which is putting us at an economic disadvantage to China and other countries. And the president's been very vocal about that, both publicly and now I can reveal privately as well," she said.
