Authorities have identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect who allegedly fatally shot conservative activist and father of two, Charlie Kirk.

Kirk, 31 -- the founder of the conservative youth activist organization Turning Point USA -- was killed on Wednesday during a campus event at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, about 39 miles south of Salt Lake City.

Robinson was taken into custody in Washington County, Utah, within 33 hours of the shooting, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.

Here is a timeline of how the shooting unfolded and how Robinson was arrested:

Robinson is wearing a plain maroon T-shirt, light-colored shorts, light-colored shoes and a black hat with a white logo, according to Cox.

Officials stated that Robinson changes into dark clothing on campus before the shooting.

Cox says that after Robinson's father recognized his son in the distributed photographs, he told Robinson to turn himself in. Robinson initially said no but later changed his mind, officials said.

The father then called a youth pastor, who is also a U.S. Marshals task force officer. The officer advised the father to have Robinson stay in place. This information was then conveyed to the FBI.
