Demi Lovato reprises her role as Mitchie Torres in 'Camp Rock 3'

Demi Lovato returning to "Camp Rock 3" is exactly where she's supposed to be.

Ahead of the "Camp Rock 3" premiere on Monday in Burbank, California, it was announced that Lovato will reprise her iconic role as Mitchie Torres in the highly anticipated film.

"Camp Rock" fans were first introduced to Mitchie when the first film premiered on the Disney Channel in June 2008.

As an aspiring singer-songwriter in the first two films, she attends Camp Rock, a music camp for gifted teens, where her mother, Connie (Maria Canals-Barrera), works as the camp cook.

When pop idol Shane Gray overhears a girl singing, he sets out to find who the voice belongs to. What he doesn't know is that the voice belongs to Mitchie.

Lovato spoke with ABC News at the new movie's premiere Monday about where her character is today.

"Mitchie, you know, she’s grown. She has established a career of her own. She’s coming back to ‘Camp Rock’ and she’s excited to see the next generation step in and fill those big shoes of the first ‘Camp Rock,'" Lovato said.

Lovato's song "This is Me," with Joe Jonas, peaked at no. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2008 and remained on the chart for seven weeks.

It was previously announced that Lovato would not be reprising her role as Mitchie in "Camp Rock 3."

When the film was announced in September 2025, Disney Branded Television announced that the original cast slated to return was Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas as Shane Gray, Nate Gray and Jason Gray, respectively, of the fictional band, Connect 3.

The trio, along with Lovato, were announced as co-executive producers on the project.

"Camp Rock 3" follows Connect 3 as they lose the opening act for their major reunion tour. The band returns to Camp Rock with the hope of discovering the next big thing.

"As campers vie for the chance to open for their favorite band, tensions rise, and friendships are tested, leading to unexpected alliances, revelations and romances," a synopsis for the film states.

"Camp Rock's all-new campers include bold and determined Sage (Segura) and her easygoing brother Desi (Stone), cello prodigy Rosie (Pollack), drummer with his own beat Cliff (Trotter), choreo queen Callie (Pitts), intimidating influencer Madison (Jean) and camp bad boy Fletch (Barton)," the synopsis adds.

"Camp Rock 3" arrives on Disney Channel on Aug. 13 and will be available to stream the next day on Disney+.
