Netanyahu signals openness to Trump's Gaza ceasefire plan: Sources

Netanyahu is scheduled to sit down with Trump at the White House on Monday.

The Israel Defense Forces is continuing its operation to take control of Gaza City, the largest urban area in the Gaza Strip, despite international outcry over the deteriorated humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory.

Meanwhile, in protest of Israel's continuation of its military operations in Gaza, several nations including France, the U.K. and Canada recognized Palestinian statehood as leaders gathered in New York last week for meetings at the United Nations General Assembly.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the leaders on Friday, again saying Israel will not allow an independent Palestinian state to exist.

IDF bombs 140 targets in Gaza in 24 hours

The Israel Defense Forces said in a post to X on Sunday that Israeli warplanes bombed 140 targets across the Gaza Strip over the previous 24 hours.

Strikes targeted what the IDF said were "military buildings," fighters and "infrastructure" used by enemy forces.

Meanwhile, the IDF said its ground forces continued operations deep within Gaza City, the strip's largest urban area and the focus of a major ongoing IDF offensive.

Troops of the three IDF divisions operating in the city -- the 36th, 98th and 162nd -- engaged enemy fighters and destroyed buildings in recent operations, the IDF said.

'Intense' negotiations ongoing for a ceasefire in Gaza, Trump says

President Donald Trump said that "inspired and productive" discussions are ongoing on Gaza, in a post on social media Friday.

"Intense negotiations" have been carried out for four days and will carry on until an agreement is successfully completed, he said.

All of the countries within the region are involved in these discussions. Hamas is aware of the talks and the state of Israel, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been informed of them as well, Trump said.

"There is more Goodwill and Enthusiasm for getting a Deal done, after so many decades, than I have ever seen before. Everyone is excited to put this period of Death and Darkness behind them. It is an Honor to be a part of this Negotiation," Trump said on his social media platform.

Hamas pushes back on Netanyahu’s UN speech, says its full of lies

The Hamas-run Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "delivered a misleading address ... filled with lies and blatant contradictions,” at the United Nations on Friday.

Netanyahu's speech was "a desperate attempt to justify the war crimes and acts of genocide committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” Hamas said.

"Netanyahu’s speech at the United Nations represents a desperate attempt to distort the truth and evade legal responsibility for the crimes committed in the Gaza Strip, as well as for decades of ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and systematic killing of the Palestinian people -- all of which constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, and the crime of genocide under international law,” Hamas said.
