Israel-Iran updates: Iran launches more missiles at Israel, sirens sound in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem

The IDF said it is currently striking "surface-to-surface missile sites."

Aerial attacks between Israel and Iran continued overnight into Monday, marking a fourth day of strikes following Israel's Friday attack. That surprise strike hit the heart of Iran's nuclear program, killing several nuclear scientists as well as high-ranking military leaders, according to Israeli officials.

The U.S. did not provide any military assistance or have any involvement in Israel's Friday strike, a U.S. official told ABC News. President Donald Trump told ABC News on Sunday, "It's possible we could get involved."

Trump rejected Israeli plan to kill Iran's supreme leader, per US officials

President Donald Trump rejected an Israeli plan in recent days to kill Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, two U.S. officials told ABC News.

The officials stated that Israel shared with the United States that they had a window to kill Iran's leader but the president was not on board with the plan.

It's unclear if Trump conveyed the message directly to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Reuters was the first to report the news.

Netanyahu was asked about the Reuters report in an interview on Sunday with Fox News.

“There's so many false reports of conversations that never happened and I'm not going to get into that. But I can tell you I think we do what we need to do, we’ll do what we need to do and the United States knows what is good for the United States and I'm just not going to get into it all that," Netanyahu stated.

The White House declined to comment on the report.

IDF says it struck target over 1,400 miles into Iran

The IDF says it struck an Iranian refueling plane at the Mashhad airport in eastern Iran, which makes this, it says, the farthest strike into Iran since attacks began.

"At a distance of approximately 2,300 kilometers, the Air Force struck an Iranian refueling aircraft a short time ago at Mashhad Airport in eastern Iran," the IDF statement says. "The Air Force is working to achieve air superiority throughout Iran. This is the farthest strike since the operation began."

Trump says it's 'possible' US 'could get involved' in Israel-Iran conflict

President Donald Trump told ABC News that "it's possible we could get involved" in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The president made the comments to ABC News' Rachel Scott. He also reiterated that the U.S. is "not at this moment involved" in the conflict.

Trump also said that he would be "open" to Russian President Vladimir Putin being a mediator in the conflict. "He is ready. He called me about it. We had a long talk about it, " Trump said.
