The Senate on Saturday considered some of President Donald Trump's nominations before the August recess.

Trump doesn't agree with Canada recognizing Palestinian state
Trump was asked if Canada’s plans to recognize a Palestinian state is a dealbreaker in trade talks.
“I didn't like what they said. But, you know, that's their opinion. I didn't like that,” he said.
Trump's comments came following an overnight social media post where he wrote that Canada backing statehood for Palestine “will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal.”

Trump stops short of agreeing with Marjorie Taylor Greene on Gaza 'genocide'
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene stunned conservatives this week when she put out a statement calling the situation in Gaza a "genocide."
When asked about her comments, Trump wouldn't go as far.
"Oh, it's terrible what's occurring there. Yeah, it's a terrible thing. People are very hungry," he said.
The president quickly pivoted to pointing out how he felt he wasn’t thanked enough for sending aid into the region, blaming Hamas for stealing funds and food.

Trump said he doesn't know why Epstein took young women from Mar-a-Lago
ABC News' Rachel Scott asked Trump about the Epstein probe, bringing up the statement by victim Virginia Giuffre's family who slammed the president's comments.
Trump said earlier in the week that Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, might have been one of several employees at his Mar-a-Lago club who were "stolen" by Epstein.
"Did you know why he was taking those young women? Scott asked Trump.
The president said he did not know.
"No, I don't know really why, but I said, if he's taken anybody from Mar-A-Lago, he's hiring or whatever he's doing, I didn't like it. And we threw him out," Trump said.
Trump talks new White House ballroom: 'It'll be beautiful'
Trump was asked to discuss the new ballroom that is being constructed at the White House. The project will cost $200 million, which Trump said he is paying along with some donors.
"We've been planning it for a long time," Trump said. "They've wanted a ballroom at the White House for more than 150 years."
"I'm good at building things. And we'll get it built quickly and on time. It'll be beautiful," Trump added.
The White House earlier Thursday released artist renderings of what the ballroom will look like. Construction will start this fall and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said it will be complete before Trump's term is up.
