Trevor Ault is a national correspondent for ABC News, based in New York City. His reports can be seen across multiple ABC broadcasts, including “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight,” “Nightline,” “20/20,” ABC News Live and the ABC News podcast “Start Here.” Ault served as a lead correspondent through the COVID-19 pandemic, appearing at some of the first White House coronavirus briefings, where he pressed President Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci about the spread of the virus and insufficient PPE for healthcare workers. He has reported amid tense racial justice protests across the country, including in Manhattan, where his work contributed to ABC News’ Edward R. Murrow Award-winning breaking news coverage. Ault reported from the steps of the Pennsylvania state capitol during the first Stop the Steal demonstrations and has frequently anchored ABC News Live coverage during monumental political events, including the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Ault has provided on-the-ground reporting in the immediate aftermath of mass shootings in Virginia Beach and at Oxford High School in Michigan; in the middle of devastating hurricanes, blizzards, flash floods and heat waves; and inside the swamps of Florida during the search for the boyfriend of Gabby Petito. His work has shed light on the suicide epidemic in Wyoming, the impact of the death penalty through the eyes of Boston Marathon bombing victims, and the often dangerous interactions between police and the mentally ill. Before joining ABC, Ault worked as a reporter and anchor for KOIN-6 News in Portland, Oregon, where he went undercover reporting on underground street racing groups. He began his career at WTOL-11 in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. He graduated with a degree in communications from Defiance College and has a master’s degree in broadcast and digital journalism from Syracuse University.
